The Central Board of Revenue is facing difficulty in compiling data on confiscated liquor, as most of the anti-smuggling agencies have not provided the requisite information to the board. The last date of the liquidation of all the seized/confiscated goods including liquor was July 31, 2005. However, it seems that disposal of seized items has not taken place as planned by the board.
For disposal of liquor, the CBR had directed the collectors to compile data from all the seizing agencies within their jurisdiction and submit the same after recheck, to expedite the disposal of seized/confiscated liquor as per directives of the council of Islamic ideology (CII).
After a gap of over one month, the CBR on Thursday again issued a new directive to the Coast Guard, Karachi and Frontier Corps, Quetta and Rangers of all four provinces to submit the updated information on liquor. Meanwhile, the CBR is also waiting about the report of the customs laboratories to certify whether the confiscated liquor is fit for human consumption or not.
