Ample opportunities for investment and bilateral trade between Indonesia and Pakistan are available, hence, the entrepreneurs and traders of both friendly Muslim countries should fully exploit these opportunities.
This was stated by Indonesian Ambassador to Pakistan Anwar Santoso, while addressing the FDPT Trustees, Customs Officers and local exporters/importers at Faisalabad Dry Port.
He said that during the last meeting between President General Pervez Musharraf and his Indonesian counterpart Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono it was decided to boost the economic relations between both countries and resolve the trade problems at the ministerial level.
The Indonesian envoy said: "We need mechanism for increasing the trade volume between both countries", adding the exchange of trade delegations between Indonesia and Pakistan will help a lot in manifold increase in trade and industry.
He said that Indonesia is a prime market for the export of Pakistani goods, adding that the Pakistani entrepreneurs should start joint ventures with their Indonesian counterparts as the establishment of joint ventures in both countries would help generate sizeable income.
The envoy said: "To promote the trade between Pakistan and Indonesia, we should remove bottlenecks by holding ministerial level meetings", adding: "We should improve our future understanding and come to reality that how we could improve understanding between both countries."
About the Faisalabad Dry Port, the envoy said the Faisalabad Dry Port is not dry but a "fertile port" where direly needed advanced "On Line Tracking System" and "One Window Operation Facility" are available to exporters/importers.
He congratulated FDPT Chairman Shahzad Ali Siddiqi and his team on converting the Faisalabad Dry Port into biggest dry port of the country within a short period.
Indonesian Consul General Entjim Herrianto also spoke on this occasion, saying the Indonesian delegation visiting Faisalabad Dry Port has been very much impressed by the achievements of the Faisalabad Dry Port. The other members of the Indonesian delegation also expressed the same sentiments about the Faisalabad Dry Port.
Earlier, the FDPT chief briefed the Indonesian delegation about the activities at the Faisalabad Dry Port, and said that this biggest Dry Port of the country handles 35,000 export/import cargo containers having a value of Rs 80 billion per annum.
Shahzad Ali Siddiqi said this Dry Port has handled 17,765 import and export containers during the last six months terminating on June 30, 2005, adding the Faisalabad Dry Port is the only dry port of the country which is certified under ISO and having the advanced system of "On Line Tracking". The importers/exporters and even the foreign buyers could now track the exact location of their cargo by utilising our web site, he added.
He said that the main server of Faisalabad Dry Port is connected with 5 enroute check posts, which monitor the movement of export/import cargo.
Senior Trustee Mali Muhammad Anwar presented dry port shield to Indonesian Ambassador Anwar Santoso while Trustee Tausif Bari presented the shield to Indonesian Consul General Entijim Herrianto. To reciprocate, the Indonesian envoy presented the shield to FDPT Chairman Shahzad Ali Siddiqi.
FDPT Senior Vice Chairman Muhammad Moazzam presented a vote of thanks to Indonesian ambassador and the trade delegation of his country for paying a visit to Faisalabad Dry Port.
He expressed the hope that the mutual understanding between Pakistan and Indonesia will help promote the bilateral trade between both countries.
