Private transporters and bus stand owners have appealed to the chief minister Punjab, to sympathetically look into the closure of their bus stands situated on Bund Road and allow them to work.
'On one hand, government is beating the trumpet of privatisation and involving private sector in business, while on the other hand we are being deprived of doing business,' said Azam Khan Niazi, owner of Niazi Express, Syed Sajjad Hussein Shah GM Abdullah Travels, Waseem Afzal Bhatti GM Rahber Travels, Asim Ahmad GM Skyways and others while addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club (LPC) here on Thursday.
Transporters alleged that the general bus stand being run by the government was full of problems, while exemplary facilities were being extended to the masses on private bus stands including good security system.
They said that their bus stands came into existence some seven to eight years ago and the then government also approved these stands.
They said that they were ready to even run the bus stand, which was built by the government and assured to generate revenue for the government.
