Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has directed the Ministry of Petroleum to finalise the gas allocation and distribution mechanism within two weeks to keep informed the existing and future users of gas about the availability of gas.
He was talking to Advisor on Energy Mukhtar Ahmed and Secretary Petroleum Ahmad Waqar who called on him to discuss availability of gas for industry, fertiliser production and power generation.
They also discussed the import of gas through pipelines and as LNG.
The Prime Minister said the process of gas supply should be streamlined and made more transparent. He emphasised that reliable supply of gas was essential to support high economic growth strategy of the government.
Secretary Petroleum briefed the Prime Minister about availability of new gas resources as well as the status of various gas import projects.
