The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is a party of everyone, who believes in one God, teaching of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and belief in holy Quran, MQM chief Altaf Hussein said while telephonically addressing a gathering here from London on Saturday night. He said Islam is a religion of peace and MQM also believes in peace.
Talking of the Pakistan Movement, he said during the struggle for freedom from British rule each and every citizen of united India took part and played a role irrespective of his sect, race and religion.
The MQM chief said it was a conspiracy of Britain rulers to divide Muslims into different schools of thought in order to weaken them.
He stressed upon party workers to cast their vote in favour of MQM during the local government elections so that candidates of the MQM would return successful. He also urged party workers to stay calm despite provocation and play an active role in the polls.
He said party workers should provide guidance to common man before the polls and train them so that they can cast their vote properly.
He said Sindh is a place of sufis like Shah Latif and Sachal Sarmast, who preached love.
Altaf Hussein said Sindh was a place of love and peace and its Muslim scholars even attracted non-Muslims towards Islam and never refused any non-Muslim to pursue their religion or join their gathering.
He said MQM was the only party of the poor and represents deprived classes of the people in the country.
He was of the view that MQM teaches that everyone is a brother of another.
The address was also attended by different MPAs and members of MQM co-ordination committees. The address was delivered in Gadap and North Nazimabad towns.
