imagePakistan Test captain Misbah ul Haq received the Test mace, given to the world’s best side in the format, from the International Cricket Council (ICC) today in Lahore.

According to media reports, The ICC CEO David Richardson awarded the test mace to Misbah-ul-Haq on Pakistan’s reaching to the top of the ranking in the world under his leadership.

Speaking at the ceremony at Gaddafi stadium, Misbah said, “This is an exciting occasion for us, for me and for the team as well, to receive such an honour for our country.”

He added: “We are really happy about it that finally we are number one.”

Pakistan, who plays their home games in the United Arab Emirates, won the fourth and final Test of their recent series in England to seal a 2-2 draw.

Pakistan tops the test ranking with 111 points followed by India with 110 points. Australia and England are at third and fourth place respectively with 108 points each.

Reportedly, Pakistan has become the fifth country to receive the prestigious trophy since existing rankings introduced by the governing body of the sport. Australia, England, India and South Africa are other four countries that have received the trophy.
