The youths should discuss the issues the way they see and feel them, and draw viewpoints and conclusions accordingly, United States Acting Consul General in Karachi, Kay Anske stated on Monday.
She was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural session of an International Youth Conference, being organised here at a hotel under the auspices of Azad Foundation.
Kay Anske was of the view that in this era the world had become a global village and as such no one could remain isolated of the happening around him or her, therefore, we must know what was happening around us, she stressed.
The Acting CG asked the participants to exchange views openly and freely and come up with possible solutions.
Kay Arnske congratulated the participants of the moot and the organisers of the event, and said those participating in the conference would be taking up a host of issues and seeking the possible solutions of the same.
VISA ISSUE: While replying to questions, she acknowledged that many of the youths had faced difficulties in acquisition of student's visa for pursuing the higher education in America. "I am not going to deny that there have been some difficulties in the past and still have been", she remarked.
"Some of this is related to sonic unfortunate events of September 11, 2001. It is unfortunate that so many people have suffered immediately and afterwards because of the actions of the few", the Acting US CG pointed out. She said it was also the situation where trouble continued in the world.
Kay Anske pointed out the US visas were being processed in Islamabad rather than in Karachi, Lahore or Peshawar. "It does take a while but I assure you that it is not just against the Pakistan youths but it is across the board and in other words there are many other countries who are looking carefully at the applicants," she added.
Speaking on the occasion, Adviser to Sindh Governor Dr Syed Muhammad Ali Shah urged the youths to concentrate towards the acquisition of knowledge. He was of the view that the first priority of the students must be to acquire education. Dr Shah opined that students should be just students and not to be involved in politics. However, they might venture into the field of politics after the completion of their studies, he further remarked.
