The European Commission has begun investigating whether recordable compact dics (CDs) are being dumped on the European market by producers in China, including Hong Kong, and also Malaysia.
The European Union's executive, which on Friday launched a similar probe into recordable DVDs from China and Taiwan, was asked to open the investigation by a group representing firms that make 60 percent of Europe's recordable CDs.
The EU has been challenged by growing imports of manufactured goods from China, chief among them textiles and clothing, which have surged after the abolition of a quota-system at the start of this year.
