Ukraine, which plans to export 6.0 to 6.5 million tonnes of wheat in the 2005/06 July-June season, increased wheat exports to 285,400 tonnes in July from 263,300 in June, analysts said on Monday.
Pro Agro agriculture constancy said in a statement Ukraine exported wheat mostly to Spain, Yemen, South Africa, Israel and Algeria. Analysts say Ukraine is likely to increase its wheat harvest to 18.4 million tonnes in 2005 from 15.5 million in 2004.
The government, however, says Ukraine harvested 17.5 million tonnes of wheat in 2004. Ukraine's Farm Ministry said last week farmers had harvested 16.5 million tonnes of wheat bunker weight so far this year from 82 percent of the sown area.
The yield totalled 3.03 tonnes per hectare. Analysts have said Ukraine exported 4.324 million tonnes of wheat in 2004/05, 49,900 tonnes in 2003/04 and 6.5 million tonnes on 2002/03 season.
