Federal commerce secretary Tasnim Noorani, a grade 22 senior bureaucrat, retired on Monday (August 8) after putting in more than 35 years of service in various capacities. Before his posting as commerce secretary, Noorani, remained interior secretary for almost five years.
Bureaucratic circles at the federal capital had been expecting that because of his vast experience in different fields, Noorani would be re-employed on contract or given extension in service after reaching the age of superannuation.
However, sources close to Noorani told Business Recorder that so far he had not received anything in writing, so he stood retired from the government service.
