Chairman, Pakistan Consumer Traders Association (PCTA) Haroon Agar has urged the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan to withdraw the tax imposed on withdrawal of more than Rs 25,000 from banks. Talking to newsmen, he said that imposition of this tax was creating problems for individuals, and both small and big businessmen.
He said that the business community had opposed this tax but the government did not pay any attention to it. He said that due to imposition of this tax the business community has started issuing cheques of less that Rs 25,000 and, where they have to make payment of more than Rs 25,000, they issue more cheques than one.
He said that this practice has increased the workload on banking staff, and on factory and business accountants. He said that beside this the business community has also started keeping cash and this has increased the risk of robberies.
