Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad on Tuesday said that all ongoing development projects in Sindh would be completed within two years. The governor was talking to journalists after laying foundation of a bridge on Malir River in Shah Faisal Colony. The bridge would connect Shah Faisal Colony with Korangi.
He said that the ongoing development projects were being completed on fast pace and there was no reason for any delay in the work. "These would be completed within two years," he said.
He said that the new bridge would cost Rs 1,005 million. It is estimated that completion of work would take about 22 months.
The construction of bridge was a longstanding demand of the people of Shah Faisal Colony and Korangi. It would cut short travelling time and facilitate smooth flow of vehicular traffic.
Ibad said that the city was in need of many such bridges as major city areas were without link roads and alternative routes to travel from one locality to another.
He said that some more areas had been identified and soon there more bridges would be constructed.
The governor said that Karachi Circular Railway would be expanded. "The government is considering participation of private entrepreneurs to make circular railway attractive for private investment."
Later, the governor laid the foundation of Shahrae Darul Uloom at Daud Chowrangi, Korangi. The road would cost Rs 1,002 million.
