A Greek oil tanker carrying 15,000 tonnes of fuel oil and a Dutch fishing trawler have collided off the eastern British coast sinking the trawler, the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) said on Tuesday.
The MCA said the Greek tanker, the Shinoussa, and the Dutch trawler, the Jacoba Alijda, struck each other in the early hours of Tuesday, 48 miles off Bacton in the North Sea.
The coastguard said all six crew of the trawler were rescued by another fishing vessel in the vicinity. The crew of the oil tanker had not sustained any damage and the cargo of heavy fuel oil was intact.
