Ahmad Kamal, former Chairman, Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA), Sh. Mukhtar Ahmad, Chairman Garment City, Faisalabad and former Chairman, PTEA and Faisalabad Dry Port Trust, Chaudhry Muhammad Siddique, former Chairman PTEA and Chairman.
Import Committee, Faisalabad Dry Port Trust have paid rich tributes to Tasnim M. Noorani, retired Secretary Ministry of Commerce for his dedicated services as government servant for business, trade and industry as well as civic and social development and uplift work as District Administrative Officer.
In a joint statement issued here on Wednesday, they said that having gained first hand experience of civic development and external trade during his tenure as commercial councilor, Singapore, Noorani's first major assignment as Commissioner Faisalabad Division provided him an opportunity to display his capabilities and resourcefulness as civil administrator. He worked out "Greater Faisalabad Development Plan" and put together sufficient resources for its immediate implementation.
To the old colonial city narrowalleys, he was able to provide water supply scheme and sanitation project and development of major city roads and inter linking Faisalabad through bypass roads. From a big town of old era, Faisalabad took quantum leap into 21st century due to his untiring efforts, devotion and dedicated work.
They said that people of Faisalabad even today remember and respect Noorani as a great benefactor of the city. They said that in view of his phenomenal success Noorani's services were acquired by Punjab government as secretary and from there made his way as Secretary Ministry of Interior. He handled the job Interior Secretary efficiently in troubled times and for his outstanding performance was immediately picked up to work as Secretary Commerce. It was during this tenure that his brilliance and dedication and devotion for the country shown at its best. During this period, he successfully implemented national trade policy and concluded free trade agreements and preferential trade agreements with various countries and held trade negotiations with India boldly without conceding vital interest of Pakistan.
They said that such a brilliant civil servant is a great asset for the country and urged the President General Pervez Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz to utilise his talent and vast experience for the benefit of the country in some appropriate manner.
