The Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) has decided to evolve an effective strategy in the All Parties Conference (APC) on Thursday to disclose and check the alleged pre-poll rigging in the Local government (LG) elections. The decision to discuss the one point agenda in the APC was taken in the ARD meeting on Wednesday.
More than 30 political leaders of different parties, including ARD Chairman Amin Fahim, PML-N Chairman Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Syed Zafar Ali Shah PML (N), Nafeez Siddiqui of PPPP, Sahibzada Fazal Karim Jamiat Ulma-e- Islam, Sadeeq-Al-Farooq PML (N) attended the meeting.
Briefing to the media, Amin Fahim said that ARD has decided to work on a one-point agenda to evolve an effective plan to counter the government pre-poll rigging moves in LB election. He clarified that the ARD would not boycott the election and would fight the political and constitutional battle.
Amin said that the ARD had planned to show not only vote casting and long queues to the international observers during the election, but would also bring forth the computer engineered rigging.
The ARD leader urged the election commission to strictly implement rules and disqualify those candidates who are violating the code of conduct. He also alleged the provincial Chief ministers were instrumental in un-opposed election of nazims in different union councils, particularly in Sindh, where he said that about 35 nazims have been elected unopposed.
