Senator Ilyas Ahmad Bilour-led Businessmen Forum has once again achieved majority after success of its five candidates as unopposed to the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) executive committee. The SCCI executive committee comprised of 22 members among which Businessmen Forum enjoys the support of 14 members.
This year 12 members of the executive committee have been retired, who were mostly belonging to the opposition group led by Faiz Rasool Khan, vice president, Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI).
The chairman of the election committee has already announced the election schedule for holding the polls in two phases on 25th and 27th. However, five candidates of the forum have already returned unopposed. The first were three candidates of the town associations while the remaining two contesting on Trade Group. Now the elections will be held for electing seven executive members.
The unopposed elected candidates for the Town Association Group were Manzoor Ahmad Paracha (Kohat), Ahmad Khan (Swat) and Mohammad Ishtiaq (Bannu) while the two candidates of the trade group are Colonel Syed Khizer Hayat (Retd) and Mohammad Nawaz Khan.
August 11 was the last day for the withdrawal of nominations and four candidates for the trade group, including Inayat Khan, Eng Maqsood Anwar Pervez, and Malik Iftikhar Ahmad Awan produced their withdrawals to pave way for the unopposed elections of Colonel Syed Khizer Hayat.
Similarly, Nasim Javid, Mohammad Luqman Shah, Eng Maqsood Anwar Pervez, Javid Akhtar and Firdaus Aziz withdrew from the contest for the category of full group. Now the contest for full group will be held among Mohammad Arshad Siddiqui, Haji Mohammad Sadiq, Malik Sajjad Gul Awan, Haji Iftikhar Ahmad, Mohammad Nasir Jamal, Mohammad Omar Khan Zakori and Mohammad Suhail.
Those announced their withdrawals from the contest of Associate Group include Syed Ejaz Ali Shah, Mohammad Dastagir, Mohammad Nawaz Khan, Mohammad Altaf, Haji Nazir Ahmad, Mohammad Waris Khan Afridi, Masood, Shehzad and Masood Afridi.
Now the contest for the four seats of the Associate Group will be held among Inayat Khan, Mohammad Nadeem Rauf, Mian Mohammad Akhtar, Haji Israr Saraf, Mohammad Fazil, Shehzad Anwar and Mohammad Hassan.
After coming unopposed by the five candidates, the Businessmen Forum has once again got majority to elect President, Senior Vice President and Vice President from their group.
