The Information Technology Ministry has approved Rs 8.4 million for complete automation of local administration offices. "The project aims at providing e-services to all the offices of local administration officials, including assistant and deputy commissioners;" a project manager in the Information Technology Ministry told Business Recorder here on Thursday.
A high-level meeting, chaired by federal Information Technology minister, had decided to launch the proposed project from mid of September.
Officials of the local administration, including assistant and deputy commissioners of Islamabad attended the meeting. The purpose of the project is to improve the efficiency of local administration.
The assistant commissioner will monitor daily progress through computer networking after launching the comprehensive IT system.
The IT infrastructure will help in observing dealing of staff with public and make the documentation process more transparent.
The sources also said that along with IT infrastructure, local area network would be introduced for the mutual interaction between the employees and high command.
The local area network would be made more efficient to maintain the record of important documents and files, records of all the office orders and questions asked during sessions of the Lower House of the Parliament, along with complete list of files and documents of the National Assembly.
"Through this system it would be much easier to maintain the facts and figures issued by all the government institutions during the year, through portal automation," the sources added.
The electronic directorate and Central Development Working Party (CDWP) of the Information Technology Ministry would look after the project.
The online summary of the implementation of all office orders would also be made available, the sources added.
They said that the project would be initiated soon on provincial level after completion of the automation process in the federal capital.
