Punjab University Law College has decided to start 5-year BA LLB (Hons) programme from September this year. The decision was taken in a meeting of Board of Studies in Law chaired by vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood here on Thursday.
Giving the briefing, Dean Faculty of Law Professor Dr Dil Muhammad Malik said admission requirements for five-year programme would be FA/FSc/ 'A' level and entry test. He said the first two years would mainly focus on BA compulsory and elective subjects. 'In place of optional subject, there will be a subject of 'introduction to law and legal system'. The remaining three years will focus on the hardcore law subjects and in addition to these subjects, the students will be given training in use of library, computer and communication skills, he said.
The meeting also approved introduction of semester system in the existing LLB 3-year programme. It also decided that the medium of instructions in examinations would be English.
Leading lawyer S M Zafar, former vice-chancellor Professor Sheikh Imtiaz Ali, Justice Sardar Muhammad Iqbal, Department of Sociology Chairman Professor Dr Zakria Zakir, Registrar Professor Dr Muhammad Naeem Khan and others attended the meeting.
