China welcomed the decision taken by Pakistan and India to uphold cease-fire at the Line of Control (LoC), desist from setting up new posts in Kashmir and maintain agreement on airspace violations.
"We are glad to see that Pakistan and India have reached series of Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) and agreed to maintain the peace process," said Liu Jianchao a spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Commenting on the joint statement issued in New Dehli on Monday by the two countries at the end of their officers level talks, the spokesman hopped that the two sides would push forward the peace process to settle their disputes through peaceful means.
China believes that normalisation of relations between Pakistan and India would help ensure peace and stability in South Asia.
Meanwhile, a member of Chinese"Think Tank" Xie Daigang said that China has always facilitated peace process between its tow neighbours.
Pakistan and India, he said, are important countries in the region and they could live together on the basis of equality and peaceful co-existence. He asserted that the two countries should concentrate on improving socio-economic conditions of their people.
Talking to newsmen, he said, the leadership of Pakistan and India has taken courageous steps in the recent years to make the South Asia region free of tension.
He hopped that the Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) and bilateral exchanges would create a conducive atmosphere for the two countries to resolve their long-standing disputes, including the issue of Kashmir through peaceful means.
