National Engineering Services Pakistan (Nespak) has been engaged to provide consulting services for building the Madian Saleh Airport in Al-Ula region of Saudi Arabia.
The region is known as an archaeological tourist centre. According to a Nespak release, the new airport would be capable of handling Boeing Jumbo 747 aircraft and would be equipped with modern facilities for passenger handling and airport design.
Nespak is providing specialist technical input for master planning, design of airside infrastructure, airport lighting, security and special systems.
The design services are expected to be completed this year.
After having provided constancy services for the up gradation of Najran Airport in 2002, this is the second airport project being undertaken by Nespak in Saudi Arabia.
The organisation's other overseas projects in this sector include the design of a hangar for B-747 aircraft at Baku International Airport, Azerbaijan and facilities building at See Airport in Muscat.
