Arrangements are underway to celebrate the 58th Independence Day all over the tribal areas in a befitting manner with usual zeal and fervour. The day will dawn with recitation of Holy Quran and special prayers for the country's solidarity and prosperity in all the principal mosques in all the seven tribal agencies.
It will be followed by national flag hoisting ceremonies at government offices and buildings. The special programmes of the day include spirited tribal gatherings of elected representatives and tribal elders, declamation contests among school students, sports events, special walks and distribution of sweets among hospital patients and prisoners.
The tribal elders at the jirgas will highlight the importance of independence day in the annals of Pakistan and the tribesmen's role in the freedom movement which ultimately led to creation of Pakistan.
In the evening main bazaars, shopping centres, markets, government offices, buildings, residences and important public places will be tastefully illuminated to celebrate the Day.
The administration throughout the tribal region has made elaborate arrangements to mark the auspicious day with enthusiasm by involving all segments of the tribal society in the celebrations.
In South Waziristan a grand "Amn Mela (Peace Festival) will be held at Shakai. Exhibition matches of cricket and volleyball in all agencies are also part of this grand festival.
