The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved a five year project estimated to cost Rs 498.426 millions for the development of academic buildings, equipment, furniture, books and faculty and PhD scholarship for the faculty members of the Sindh University (SU).
Out of the total allocation, Rs 240 millions has been allocated for grant of 40 PhD scholarships to faculty members during the next five years.
A meeting held in this connection under the chairmanship of vice chancellor Sindh University decided that out of the total PHD scholarship, 6 PhD scholarships will be for the faculty members of Pharmacy, 13 scholarships for Natural Science, 6 scholarships for Social Sciences, 4 for Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration, 5 for Faculty of Arts, 2 for Islamic Studies and 4 scholarships for the members of the Faculty of Education.
The deans of faculties have been advised for giving priority of their faculty members for deputing for PhD abroad. The deans nominated 11 faculty members of various faculties to appear in the test to be conducted by higher education commission for awarding the PhD scholarship for abroad.
The meeting was informed that work on development of faculties would start shortly.
