"Afghanistan is now progressively getting better and there has been a beginning of positive change," security analyst and writer Lieutenant General Kamal Matinuddin (Retd) said on Thursday.
He was speaking at a seminar on "Afghanistan: Current Issues and Future Prospects" organised in collaboration with Programme on Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution (PSCR) by the Department of International Relations, University of Karachi.
According to a press release, the speaker, who is a former Director General of Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad, stressed the need of co-operation between Pakistan and Afghanistan, as both needed each other, but added that the co-operation should be based on a policy of non-intervention and mutual respect.
Matinuddin hoped that the past mistakes committed by both the countries should be forgotten and they should enter a new era of friendship and sincerity. "The stress should be given to increase educational, financial and cultural co-operation between the two neighbouring countries."-PR
