Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Mian Misbah ur Rehman has said the latest decision-making techniques and skills were need of the hour to cope with the fast changing global scenario.
He was speaking at the closing ceremony of two-day training programme on "Effective Decision-Making and Problem-Solving Skills" organised by the LCCI Total Quality Management (TQM) Bureau. LCCI Vice President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad and Amad Qureshi of 'The MIND' also spoke on the occasion and threw light on various aspects of effective decision-making in day-to-day business affairs.
Misbah maintained there was no second opinion that future laid with quick decision makers, as some times only right approach towards complicated issues made them easier. In the face of cut-throat competition from countries like China and India one could not be successful unless and until he was quick in taking right and time-bound decisions, he added. He stated since small and medium enterprises (SMEs) were going to play an active and crucial role in the progress of the country, it was essential for Pakistani businessmen to groom their management, decision-makers and workforce to tackle the upcoming challenges.
He said effective decision-making and problem solving required a complete understanding of the problem based on ground realities, possible remedies, corporate culture and resource availability - capable of delivering the results.
He said authenticity of the facts and figures was absolutely essential for problem solution and decision-making, as sometimes due to insufficient or unauthentic data the management was unable to identify the problem and arrive at a correct decision.
At the end of the function, the LCCI President and Vice President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad distributed certificates among the participants of training programme.
