US front-month arabica coffee futures finished down 1.7 percent Friday, with options and currency movement accounting for the bulk of activity ahead of new crop estimates from top producer Brazil, traders said.
The New York Board of Trade's September arabica contract declined 1.85 cents to settle at $1.0490 a lb., after trading from $1.0420 to a 8-day high $1.08.
Among longer-dated arabicas, December slid 1.95 cents to end at $1.0955 a lb., and deferred deliveries eased 1.55 cents to 1.95 cents.
