President Pervez Musharraf felicitated the nation over fifty-eighth anniversary of independence and prayed for the prosperity of the country. He was attending a cultural show in Islamabad organised by Pakistan Television Corporation in accordance with Independence Day celebrations on Saturday night. Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz was also present on the occasion.
In his address, Musharraf termed recent test of indigenously produced cruise missile, Babur, a leap forward and a great success.
The President said that at this juncture we should re-evaluate our past and plan what we must do in future. He said when we came into power the country was in desperate situation, we were helpless and now today we are in a position of dignity and honour. "We are prospering today."
With the blessing of Almighty Allah we will continue this success journey, the President said. Musharraf promised to supply clean drinking water, education, health facilities and electricity to all and said by the year 2007 all sections of society would be able to ripe benefits of current prosperous economy.
