The NWFP inspector general of police (IGP) Muhammad Raffat Pasha in plain clothes paid surprise visit to various bazaars and public places, and parks in Peshawar during 13th and 14th August nights.
During these visits he checked traffic police, women police and district police at various bazaars and public places, and parks at University Road, Cantt area and Fort Road Stadium.
The IGP reviewed the security arrangements made for special occasion of 59th Independence Day celebrations to prevent eve teasing, pick pocketing at public places, and car lifting at parking lots. The IGP also checked traffic police duty and found traffic was flowing smoothly in spite of heavy rush.
The IGP during his late night visits at various points found police alert, agile and were performing duty with professional spirit and zeal. Women police were also found present on their duty spots late night and were discharging their duty exceptionally well.
The police chief expressed satisfaction over the performing of whole police force on this special occasion and appreciated their commitment and sincerity towards duty.
It is worth mentioning that special police arrangements were made for Independence Day celebrations and no untoward incident took place and people celebrated the occasion with traditional zeal and spirit.
Meanwhile, IGP Muhammad Raffat Pasha in a special ceremony awarded Hayatabad SHO Muhammad Usman Lala and constables Saeed Ullah and Javed of Rs 3,000 cash and commendation certificates who foiled an attempt of narcotics smuggling.
The IGP while addressing the ceremony appreciated in time action of Hayatabad Police and directed to remain alert and initiate prompt action against criminals.
Capital City Police Peshawar chief Muhammad Habib-ur-Rehman, SSP Peshawar Muhammad Saeed Wazir and SP Cantt Muhammad Alam Shinwari were also present on the occasion.
