Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Muhammad Ijaz-ul-Haq on Friday said government has taken a number of steps for the welfare of minorities and creation of harmony among different faiths of the world. He was talking to a four-member delegation of Republic of Korea led by Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Pakistan Kim Jooseok who called on him here on Friday.
The minister said the government has introduced Joint Electorate System, and reserved seats for minorities in the Parliament.
Ijaz-ul-Haq said creation of inter faith harmony was the hallmark of the President's concept of enlightened moderation. He apprised Korean delegation about the measures taken by the Ministry of Religious and Minorities Affairs for well being of minorities in Pakistan.
He informed the delegation about uplift schemes, educational scholarships and financial assistance started by the government for minorities.
The delegation lauded various measures taken by the Government of Pakistan for the welfare of minorities.
Dr Sunggon Kim, a member of the Parliament of Republic of Korea and Secretary General of Asian Conference of Religious for Peace, offered the Minister to represent Pakistan Chapter of the Religion for Peace, and said an International Conference on World's faith would be held in Kueto Japan in August next year.
He appreciated the role of Pakistan Council for Peace and Justice. The Council's seminar was recently inaugurated by the President General Pervez Musharraf, which was also attended by the head of Norwegian Churches.
