Wheat futures at the Chicago Board of Trade were firm early on Friday on short-covering ahead of the weekend in choppy trading, traders said. Gains were limited by a slide in soybeans that led to some spillover speculative selling in wheat futures, they said.
At 10:20 am CDT (1520 GMT), wheat was 1/2 to 2-1/2 cents per bushel higher. September was up 2-1/2 at $3.23-1/4 per bushel. December was up 2-1/2 at $3.38.
Locals were the main sellers and FIMAT Futures bought 300 December, the traders said.
