Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian (PPPP) has constituted a special committee with MNA Zamurad Khan its chief to monitor upcoming local bodies' polls in Rawalpindi district.
The committee will take measures to stop pre-poll or post poll rigging in the election and will also look into the complaints received from the candidates of "Awam Dost Group" regarding election process.
Sardar Saleem, Qazi Sultan Mehmood, Haji Saleem Mughal and Chaudhry Asad Pervaiz are members of the committee. Three other special monitoring committees would work at Union Council level. Senior lawyers have been included in the committees to assist monitoring committees. In this regard a party meeting was held here in which senior leadership, members of assemblies and election board participated.
In the meeting senior party leader Nahid Khan took serious notice about some complaints regarding breach of party discipline in some constituencies of Rawalpindi and instructed City President to take severe action against the elements who did not care about discipline.
While addressing to meeting, Naheed Khan and MNA Zamurad Khan said government broke all the records of rigging in the first phase of local bodies' election held on 18th instant. "The ruling Muslim League not only frightened the voters but also kidnapped candidates and political workers including ladies. They also changed election results in the darkness of night", they added. They warned the government to refrain from rigging otherwise ruling Muslim League would be responsible for poor situation. The party leadership also reiterated to prevent rigging on 25th August by force. In the meeting, MNA Fouzia Habib, MPAs Amir Fida Paracha, Ishtiaq Mirza, and other leaders of PPP participated.
TICKETS GIVEN TO WORKERS MNA Zamurad Khan and senior leader of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have reiterated the resolve that his party would always give ticket to honest and dedicated people in order to serve the country in a befitting manner.
"Party has given mandate to dedicated and basic workers of party for local body polls and in next phase of the polls tickets for district, tehsil and town Nazims would go to party workers", Zamurad Khan said here on Monday while addressing party workers. Khan, who is Chairman of PPP Election Committee, was receiving applications from party workers.
Opposition groups including Awam Dost, Al-Khidmat and Jamhuryat Nawaz groups are completely dominating the LB polls in Rawalpindi which has caused frustration in the circles of ruling party. "They have started negative tricks to divert the attention of voters from main issue and are creating law and order situation for face saving", he added.
He said the ruling party candidates have nothing to show and no new false slogan would help them to win the peoples' support. He said in the past four years no development work was seen in Rawalpindi and on which base ruling party candidates demand vote from masses.
