Traffic police arrested 123 drivers and conductors during a special campaign launched in the city. According to police sources here on Tuesday, the drive which continued from August 1 to 15, police also challaned to 3079 for violation of travelling in ladies compartments of the public vehicles.
During the campaign police have also confiscated 546 vehicles while fitness certificates of 268 vehicles were cancelled.
Apart from this, 194 tape-recorders, pressure horns, revolving lights and hooters were confiscated during the campaign.
The police also challaned 2617 drivers on charges of reckless driving, 311 on using mobile phone while driving, 181 under-age drivers, 326 tainted glass vehicle owners, 10,039 on not parking vehicles on specified spots on thorough fares, 1263 on travelling on roof, 1054 on mal-functioning of lights, 117 for not issuing tickets to passengers, 612 for smock emitting vehicles, 645 on fancy number plates and extra decoration.
Police also challaned and issued tickets to 33,156 vehicles on violation of various traffic rules and laws.
Meanwhile, the Anti-car lifting cell of Capital City Police during the last two days recovered six stolen cars and six motorcycles.
