The Indian investment in Pakistan would not be encouraged till resolution of core political issues with them, Board of Investment Chairman Waseem Haqqie said. Talking to a private TV channel, he said business interaction between Pakistani and Indian investors have increased. Some Pakistani businessmen were interested in joint ventures with the Indian investors on their own.
Government has never ever encouraged or given them any clearance in this regard, he said. Pakistan offers one of the most liberal investment policies in the region. Duties in Pakistan are also very low.
In India, duties are very high. They have imposed various regulatory and documentation barriers. In addition, there are non-tariff barriers also.
Now a day, bilateral trade between Pakistan and India was from dollars 400 to 500 million. Pakistan's exports to India are dollars 100 million while Indian exports to Pakistan are from dollars 300 to 400 million. An unofficial trade between two countries is dollars 500 million, he added.
