Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Wednesday said that by 2007 each village of Sindh would have potable water, health facilities, electricity, Sui gas and market to farm roads.
A spokesman of the chief minister giving details of his speech before a select gathering in Larkana on Wednesday said that the development work in all the districts of Sindh would begin immediately after the local bodies elections were over.
The government has already released Rs 190 million for the improvement of drainage system in Larkana. "In the meantime work on the proposal to construct bridge on River Indus to connect Larkana with Khairpur is in progress," he added. After the completion of this bridge two more bridges would be constructed in the province.
The chief minister has already directed the district co-ordination officer of Larkana to detail town planners to draw a scheme to improve drainage system of Larkana. It should be implemented soon with the assistance of the local leaders.
The chief minister said that President Pervez Musharraf had allocated huge funds for the welfare of the people and development projects but there was no indication if any work done. He expressed his dissatisfaction over this carelessness and enquired about the utilisation of funds.
The chief minister said that he would like to see a report about the utilisation of funds and expressed his apprehension about the misuse of funds by the outgoing local body members.
The spokesman said that chief minister has assured people of Larkana that appropriate action against all the corrupt deeds would be taken and those who were found involved in corrupt practices would be dealt with according to law.
The chief minister referred to the availability of water for irrigation purposes and said that water would be available to all for irrigation purposes and at the same time watercourses were also being cemented under the National Programme for Improvement of Watercourses which would economise on water consumption.
The chief minister said that those who were critical of Sindh government performance had been misleading people for a long time. He asked them to leave them and support the government in its development work.
He said that their fate was not to be subservient to exploiters but to get their share from the development work.
