Seven new water filtration plants will soon start functioning in the federal capital, a Capital Development Authority (CDA) board meeting was told on Wednesday.
Chairman CDA Kamran Lashari presided over the meeting which was attended among others by members of CDA board and officials of Pakistan Council of Research and Water Resources (PCRWR) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Briefing the meeting director water supply told the participants that new water filtration plants would be installed in sectors G-9, I-8, I-10, and G-11.
He said five samples of water were taken from existing water filtration plants and after thorough laboratory test all were found quite suitable and up to the criteria for safe and clean drinking water, he said.
At present there are five water filtration plants, which are located in sectors F-6, G-6, G-7, G-8 and G-10. The meeting decided that all the concerned departments would jointly work for the provision of safe drinking water. The officials of PCRWR and EPA presented their proposals to the CDA board.
Kamran Lashari addressing the meeting said that provision of clean potable water would help protect people from water-borne diseases. He said that filtration facilities would be further extended in future.
