Terming the claims of Sheikh Rashid of winning 30 seats in Rawal town just and stunt, Agha Riazul Islam has said that this is loudly speaking about the intentions of the ruling alliance for holding transparent rigging.
"Ruling party leaders have claimed that they win 30 seats in Rawal town, but there are only 26 candidates then how can they win 30 seats. It means they are bent upon rigging to save their face", Agha Riaz, senior leader of Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) said here on Wednesday while addressing a press conference at his Liaqat Road office. Senior opposition leaders were also present on the occasion.
He said that opposition would get 70 to 80 percent seats in both Rawal and Potohar towns of the Rawalpindi district, as the popularity graphs is on rise due to callous attitude policies of the ruling party. He said that opposition candidates were contesting on all 46 seats of the Rawal Town out of which 37 seats are sure and confirm to Awam Dost, Jamhuriyat Nawaz and Al-Khidmat groups.
Praising the gestures of the judiciary for allowing four opposition candidates to contest elections, PPP leader said that ruling party dragged four potential candidates of the opposition in legal battle to keep them away. But, he added, he is thankful to judiciary, which frustrated the evil designs of the ruling alliance.
He said that there is no candidate of ruling PML-Q in 20 constituencies including UCs 2, 4, 8, 17, 18, 19, 20, 27, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 41, 45 and 46. "We are winning the seats of UC 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 9 to 17, while ruling party has an edge over the opposition candidates in 8 constituencies, where contest would be tough", he added.
Agha Riaz said that ruling party is defaming Pakistan Army and creating hatred among hearts of general masses. "This would have dangerous repercussions if they were not stopped by the military hierarchy" he said and added that Rawalpindi is a very sensitive district of Pakistan, which is a nursery for Pakistan Army, so the politics of this district should be kept transparent.
