The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration has launched a drive against selling of unhygienic food in city restaurants. On the directives of ICT chief commissioner Khalid Pervez, Islamabad assistant commissioner Dr Sajid Mehmud along with Islamabad DHO Dr Mohammad Azher Khan challenged at least 10 petty restaurants and hotels during a raid in the Noorpur Shahan area.
Administrators also examined hygienic condition of kitchens at different restaurants and fined six hotel owners for selling substandard foods.
The administration also sent food samples from different restaurants for laboratory examination.
Complaints of unhygienic foodstuffs in city restaurants have been common in the federal capital, resulting in food poisoning and hospitalisation of people.
