The Citizen Rights Association has expressed concern over the failure of government in checking the profiteering trend in over protected auto sector, causing unbearable loss to the consumer. Citizen Rights Association President, Nasir Ahmed, talking to a group of journalists here on Monday, said the automobile sector was fleecing the consumers, as black marketing has become hallmark.
He condemned the black marketing of automobiles and termed it against the consumer interest. He said that the auto manufacturers were getting price in advance but delaying the delivery for eight to 10 months in routine.
The government should restrict the auto manufacturers to charge only 15 to 20 percent of actual price in advance and ensure early delivery, he demanded.
Lamenting artificial price hike of cement, he said that the government role was highly disappointing in this regard. He also pointed out both the sugar millers and the sugarcane growers were making hue and cry that availability of surplus stocks of sugar ahead of crushing season would be detrimental both for the industry as well as growers.
He expressed the hope that the government would take into account concerns of sugarcane growers and sugar.
