Pakistan Society of Human Resource Management (PSHRM) is organising a two-day "Human Resource Conference-2005" on November 21 to 22, 2005 in Karachi. Speaking at a press conference at a local hotel on Tuesday Navroz Surani, acting president of the Society said that the top management professionals of Pakistan will meet at this premier conference.
He said: "PSHRM is a non-profit organisation and its objective has been to create a platform for HR professionals to encourage the sharing of robust and business-oriented HRM best practices in an informal environment and to represent the HR community in Pakistan for helping to establish solutions to strategic HR issues experienced in the local market.
He said that presently PSHRM has 32 institutional members representing most of the business sectors in both local and multinational organisations.
Dr Wayne Brockbank, Professor of Business at the Stephen M. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, USA - a world renowned speaker and authority on human resource - has been especially invited to participate in this two-day conference. Among other speakers are Rhodora Palomar-Fresnedi, vice-president Talent and Organisation Learning, Unilever plc. Asia and Africa Region and Michael Reiff, Head of Remuneration and Benefits, Shell International BV.
Local panelists comprising corporate heads of leading Pakistani and multinational organisations will assist the speakers in highlighting the local industry scenario.
The conference promises to bring together senior leadership and business managers of Pakistan and overseas on a single platform in order for them to gain a deeper understanding of new strategies in Human Resource practices and functions.
The conference is being organised to highlight the importance of people, equip delegates with skill sets, which provide connectivity between performances and rewards, build sustainable competitive advantage through good people-practices, identify strategies for effective engagement and diversity and recognise new ways of thinking about Human Resource practices and functions.
In a unique departure from the more conventional form of holding such moots, the conference will employ innovative styles of learning through case studies, group discussions, interactive sessions and trouble-shooting clusters.
The HR conference 2005 will also feature a stall exhibition of Human Resource vendor companies representing top management consultancies in Pakistan, both local and multinational.
Mobilink is the main sponsor for this conference, while co-sponsors include Dubai Islamic Bank, Habib Bank Limited and Pakistan State Oil. The conference is supported by Pakistan Banking Association.
Talat Naseer, chairperson of Event Management Committee, Zafar Osmani, Aamir Niazi, Paul Keijzer and others were also present on this occasion.-PR
