The ground breaking ceremony of Rs 450 million Tools, Dies and Molds (TDM) center project is expected to be held by the mid of October this year. This was revealed at the meeting of executive committee of proposed TDM center with Federal Minister for Industries, Production and Special Initiatives, Jahangir Khan Tareen in the chair.
Among others, Chairman Technology Up gradation and Skill Development Company (TUSDEC), Almas Hyder and members of the TDM executive committee attended the meeting, said a TUSDEC spokesman here Wednesday.
Speaking on this occasion, Federal Industries Minister, Jahangir Khan Tareen called for ensuring completion of the project within one year and it would be inaugurated on August 14, 2006. He hoped that establishment of the TDM center would prove a big support for Pakistan's engineering sector.
Tareen maintained that the government would take all necessary steps for the promotion of engineering sector in Pakistan with an objective of boosting exports and substituting molds and dies imports with local production.
Earlier, Chairman TUSDEC, Almas Hyder and TDM executive committee chief, Munir Banna briefed the minister about the steps being taken for the establishment of the project.
TDM center being set up by TUSDEC in a period of 10 months would provide support to country's dies and mold sector in carrying out rapid prototyping through latest technologies like stereolithograpy, selective LASER Sintering and Rapid Tooling along with support for CAD/CAM and CNC machining.
Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) has provided a piece of land over an area of 2 acres in Korangi, Karachi for the project. The expected beneficiaries of TDM center are-telecom, automobiles and aviation.
