Iraq buys 200,000 tonnes of sugar

Iraq has tendered to buy 100,000 tonnes of white Brazilian sugar after awarding 200,000 tonnes to Gulf and western suppliers, traders and Iraqi commodities officials said on Wednesday.
The 100,000-tonne tender will close on September 6, with the government saying it would pay for the cargo only after delivery to Umm Qasr port, a copy of the tender, read to Reuters, said.
"They will compromise on payment terms because they know no one could agree to them. They have also drawn up a blacklist of companies that have failed to deliver sugar to Iraq in the past," one trader said.
