Advisor to Chief Minister Mumtaz Hameed has directed the removal of garbage dump and debris lying on the road linking Garden with Manghopir Road within 24 hours. He issued the directive to District Officer Mahmood Baluch during a visit to under-construction Garden-Manghopir Road on Friday.
He noted that as a result of garbage dump and debris, the people living in the area were facing problems in movement.
On the occasion DO informed the Advisor that construction of this 6.4 Km road was started in July 2005 at a cost of Rs 198.87 million. The road would have four to 10 feet wide footpath on both sides and two to eight feet wide central island.
He said a 15-inch dia pipeline would be laid for water drainage.
Regarding delay in the project, the Advisor was informed that KESC cables and water and sewerage lines were passing through the center of the road and their shifting was problematic.
Mumtaz Hameed asked the DO to hold a meeting of officials of concerned departments to take up this issue.
On complaint by project officers about parking issue in Pak Colony, the Advisor directed the Traffic Section Officer not to allow any kind of parking on roadsides.
He directed DO Mahmood Baluch that no fresh road be now dug up until existing under-construction road is completed. He issued instructions for maintaining quality of construction and material.
