Jhang Bazar Police have arrested 15 gamblers, including a police sub-inspector and nine constables from a den situated in Duglispura here on Friday night, after protestation of the people of the area. This den was running by Abdul Ghaffar with connivance of police for the last three years.
According to details, when high-level police investigation team encircled the locked house of Sonia Naz, a victim of alleged police torture and rape, in Duglispura for recording her statement some days back, the people of the area had pin-pointed this gambling den, which was running with the connivance of the police.
On Friday night, heavy police contingents encircled the house, where gambling was going on.
Police caught SI Muhammad Hanif posted at Police Station Kotwali, Shabir Ahmad, police constable posted in Elite Force, Mohammad Aslam driver of Anti-corruption Department, Irfan Ahmad, Auragzaib, Mohammad Akram, Ibrar Ahmad, Walayat Ali, Gulzar Ahmad, Mohammad Fazil in service constables, Mohammad Yaqoob and Mohammad Hanif ex-constable, Abdul Majeed Niazi, Zufiqar Ali and Abdul Ghaffar public men on the spot and recovered Rs 21,000, six mobiles, watches, etc from their possession.
All the accused produced in the local courts and dispatched them District Jail, Faisalabad in judicial remand. Police have registered a case and investigation is in progress.
