The World Bank (WB) has expressed satisfaction over the overall progress of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) capacity-building project and has greatly appreciated the steps being undertaken by the commission for revamping the CSS competitive examination system and general recruitment system.
A meeting was held here on Tuesday to review the progress of the capacity-building project and to discuss and finalise various modalities involved.
FPSC Chairman General Jamshaid Gulzar (Retd) chaired the meeting.
The World Bank mission team for the project, FPSC member Dr Muttawakal Qazi, FPSC secretary and other officials of the commission attended the meeting.
The project is part of the World Bank public sector capacity development project and on the initiative of the commission, the World Bank has allocated $1 million for the project.
So far, FPSC had already undertaken substantial efforts for materialising various aspects of the project despite delay in the release of funds. The FPSC chairman informed the meeting that CSS Examination System is being completely rehashed by reduction in the time period of the CSS cycle, review and updating of the syllabi and modernisation of the examination.
He said that General Recruitment System is being completely computerised and the recruitment rules are being revised after 30 years.
The FPSC secretary gave a detailed presentation on the measures so far being taken for streamlining the project and hiring of the consultant firms for various components of the project.
The World Bank team lauded the efforts of the FPSC and ensured their full support for the successful implementation of the project. They also agreed to facilitate hiring of the project director and other required human resource.-PR
