Opposition strike on September 9 would prove to be a referendum against rulers, who have rigged the local government elections to install puppets of their choice.
This was stated by opposition leaders, while addressing a news conference here on Tuesday. MNA Zamarrud Khan, ARD leader Agha Riazul Islam, MMA leader Dr Kamal and MPAs Chaudhry Ayaz and Malik Abrar were also present on the occasion.
They said the strike is called to protest against failure of the government's foreign policy, price hike and rigging in local government elections. The government has earned a bad name for the country by embracing Israel at the behest of its foreign masters, they alleged.
They said the people would not allow anyone to play with their sentiments. They said opposition MNAs and senators would boycott the parliament and hold protest demonstration in front of the parliament against the government's anti-Islamic and anti-people policies. They demanded all political parties to unite and take control of the country's destiny. They appealed to traders, transporters, trade unions and people from all walks of life to make the strike a success.
