Pakistan Muslim League (PML) is enjoying the support of more than 125 union council Nazims out of 170, and it would sweep the elections for the slot of district and tehsil Nazims in Rawalpindi district, said Provincial Minister for Local Government and Law Muhammad Basharat here on Monday.
"If the opposition gets united and uses full force to win the Nazim slots of the two towns and district, it would need the number, which they do not have," he said while talking to reporters at the inauguration of the photo exhibition.
The exhibition, organised by Rawalpindi-Islamabad Photo Journalists Association (Ripja) at Rawalpindi Arts council, on three topics: heat, child labour and historical buildings of Rawalpindi. More than 70 photographers took part in the exhibition.
Basharat said that Javed Ikhlas was unanimous candidate of Muslim League and enjoyed support of each and every individual in the party. "We have fielded three candidates for three slots of District Nazim and two Nazims for Rawal and Potohar towns and they are unanimous candidates", he added.
Dispelling the impression of differences between Lal Haveli and Dhamiyal House, he said that all party leaders and workers "are united. We are all under party discipline and every order from the high command is imperative to obey", he added.
Basharat said, "journalists are eyes" of a nation and the government would not move an inch without the guidance it sought from the media.
The Minister said the Punjab government had not imposed any age and experience bar in the Journalist Housing Foundation.
