Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) generated 6.5 percent more power during 2005 than the last year's production. The hydropower share in the overall power generated in the country has reduced by 35 percent showing decrease of 4.7 percent.
According to a local TV channel, during this period, technical and non-technical losses of Wapda reduced to 24.7 percent showing decrease of 0.77 percent.
Wapda purchased electricity of Rs 109.70 billion during last year from power generating companies and paid Rs 52.15 billion in terms of fuel during the same period.
It paid Rs 14.80 billion to private power generating companies and paid extra amount of Rs 12.14 billion in terms of fuel due to increase in oil price, the report added.
