Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Cabinet Division Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that people are suffering adversely due to the lack of leadership, and the people were deprived of their fundamental rights by the leaders of the country.
Addressing the District Bar Association Sialkot, she added that most of the leaders had opted the profession of politics as a source of income, which was highly condemnable.
She was of the opinion that very little politicians had preferred to work for the betterment of people and protection of peoples' right in the country.
It was very unfortunate that we were failed to develop Pakistan as dreamt by Quaid-e-Azam and in accordance with the aspirations of the people as a result of that the problems were multiplying rapidly as before the creation of the country she said.
Dr Firdous observed that it was due to the lack of leadership. The rights of people were ruined with both hands instead of protection of the rights. It was irony of fate that politics of legacy had been introduced whereas the middle class and common man were crushed to take part in the political affairs of the country, she said.
Quoting the example, she pointed out that Sialkot politics remained in the clutches of the politics of inheritance and common people or middle class persons were deprived of taking part into political activities of the city.
The federal parliamentary secretary further stated that the Speaker National Assembly Chaudhary Amir Hussain had also pave the way of politics of inheritance as his son had been nominated as Tehsil Nazim Sialkot adding that though Choudary Amir Hussain was not the production or part of inherited politics.
Dr Firdous said that party and party discipline are important for me, but I prefer to fight against black sheep which are busy in weakening the party.
Dr Firdous said that Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q) would not allow any body to use powers against the opponents. The federal parliamentary secretary stressed upon the lawyer community that they should work for reducing the miseries of the masses and ensure protection of their rights on top priority basis.
Earlier, the President District Bar Association Sialkot, Mehmood Ahmad Bhatti while introducing said that Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan is the second female leader after former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto who addressed the Sialkot District Bar.
