The Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government, in association with Thai Consulate General, Karachi and Thai Trade Centre, Dhaka is organising a three-day "Thailand Exhibition-2005" from September 10 to 12, at a hotel here. Consul of Thailand in Karachi Vithitp Powattpuasun stated this, while speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday.
He said that in the last few years there is a substantial development of relation between the two friendly nations in every aspect, including diplomatic relations, especially trade relations.
However, this exhibition is a distinctive effort of the Royal Thai Government to expend opportunities to the business communities of both the countries, which will consequently strengthen economic relations, he said.
He said this year Thailand is going to introduce its OTOP "One Tambon (district) One Product" - Brand, which is a symbol of excellence for grassroots products of Thailand's local communities (tambons) created by Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, Thailand.
He said besides, the exhibition is supposed to be a meeting forum open to all interested local traders and importers as well as top-end consumers and the public at large. It is a good prospect that the exhibition will be able to welcome around 30,000 visitors from all walks of life.
The exhibition will accommodate 30 companies with 10 categories of products, which included auto parts and accessories, chemical products, construction material, hardware and machinery, food and beverages, furniture, garment and textile, fashion accessories, gifts and decorative items, health and beauty, household and kitchenware products, stationary and education.
He said that the inaugural programme of the exhibition would be held on September 11. Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) President Khalid Feroz would inaugurate the exhibition.
Mrs Kanyarat Vogskul, Director, Thai Trade Centre, Dhaka and Arif Suleman, Honorary Trade Adviser in Pakistan, were also present on the occasion.
