A faction of Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umer Farooq on Friday said its talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf have been positive and would continue till a lasting solution to Kashmir dispute is found.
"Hurriyat Conference has started dialogue process with both India and Pakistan and it will continue till a solution to Kashmir issue is found," Chairman of the amalgam, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq said while addressing a Friday congregation at Jamia Masjid in Indian occupied Kashmir.
"We are hopeful that both the countries will finally agree to give the right self-determination to people of Jammu and Kashmir," he said observing that Hurriyat had started the dialogue with Prime Minister Manmohan after a successful tour of Pakistan in June.
"We informed him (Manmohan Singh) about the ground realities including the atrocities and human rights violations. We also stressed the need for trilateral talks for permanent and lasting solution to Kashmir issue," he said adding that the Centre had assured them that it would take all necessary steps to check human rights violations and review cases of all political detenues within a time-frame
On the argument that Hurriyat should join the election process to establish their popularity, he said the amalgam had made it clear to the Prime Minister that were not entering dialogue process for the sake of power but to resolve vexed issue of Kashmir.
Asserting that Pakistan was supporting the talks between the Hurriyat conference and the Centre, Mirwaiz said the process of trilateral talks would be taken forward "at all costs."
Hurriyat Chief said he would meet President Pervez Musharraf at the OIC summit next week and apprise him about the talks held with the centre and exchange views on carrying the dialogue process forward.
He also condemned the detention of Dukhtaran-e-Millat Chief Asiya Indrabi and her seven associates under the Public Safety Act.
