Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has announced "Outstanding talent scholarship programmes" for giving scholarships to deserving and talented students of Punjab in the fields of computer sciences, Information Technology, Information Technology Management, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Telecommunication.
Three million rupees would be given under this scheme per year, said chairman PITB Rizwan Ameen Sheikh, while presiding over a high level meeting here on Sunday. General Manager IT Asad Gillani was also present in the meeting.
Chairman PITB Rizwan Ameen Sheikh has said that it is the major objective of Punjab Information Technology Board to automate government departments to make fair and efficient system.
This will not only help a layman by eliminating the delays in government process but shall open up new horizon for the technical people. He said that PITB has become the leading organisation in promoting economic growth in IT and IT enable service sector in consonance with the vision of the Punjab Chief Minister.
He said that PITB would award 25 complete BS, MS and Ph.D. scholarships in a year for outstanding intellectuals and hardworking students in Punjab.
He said that Rs 12 thousand per month for Ph.D. students, MS Rs 6 thousand and BS Rs 3 thousand would be given as a scholarship. He said that outstanding talent scholarship programmes would give strong impetus to promote quality education in the province.
